Tourist health care

Pursuant to the contractual obligations with the HZZO (Croatian Health Insurance Fund), the Region’s health institutions provide services both for national and foreign tourists staying in the area of the Istrian Region. Should the need for immediate medical assistance be required, all tourists are entitled to health care under the same conditions as Croatian insured parties provided they have a valid European Health Insurance Card (EKZO). Domestic tourists access health care on the basis of a valid HZZO card.
There are also private physicians and dentists where a full price is charged for medical services.

Additional GPs, the so-called tourist infirmaries, are organised during the summer in Umag, Poreč, Rovinj, Labin and Pula in the main buildings of the Istrian Health Centre’s branch offices. There patients will receive service on the basis of travel or private insurance, or the service should be paid.

The paediatric and gynaecological infirmary in the General Hospital of Pula, Zagrebačka 30 is on duty on weekends and holidays.
The Pula General Hospital, Unified Emergency Hospital reception at Aldo Negri 6, Pula provides emergency services in the fields of: internal medicine, surgery, neurology, laboratory, radiological diagnostics and transfusion medicine.
The Pula General Hospital at Zagrebacka 30, Pula provides emergency services in the field of: infectology, psychiatry, ophthalmology, otorhinolaryngology, gaediatrics and gynaecology.
